Current fees vs. New fees
- Petitions/applications submitted to USCIS by mail that are postmarked before the effective date (shown above) can include the current fee.
- However, the new fee will be required for petitions/applications postmarked on or after the effective date (shown above).
- It is not about the mailing date, but the postmarked date of applicable petitions and applications to USCIS.
Government processing time adjustment
- USCIS will change its premium processing timeframe from calendar days (which include every day of the week) to business days (which only include Monday to Friday, excluding federal holidays).
- The premium processing timeframe for Form I-129 (H-1B/E-3/TN) will change from 15 calendar days to 15 business days. The premium processing timeframe for Form I-539 and Form I-765 (e.g. for F-1 OPT) will change from 30 calendar days to 30 business days.
- Please note that premium processing is an optional service to expedite the government processing time. It is not a required fee.
