Biography
As Senior Associate Director of Client Services, Charlie oversees the ISSS’ client services functions as well as ISSS’ robust programming and support offerings. This includes ensuring that ISSS’ clients (students, scholars, staff, and faculty) receive excellent possible service. Charlie is also responsible for ensuring that ISSS innovatively uses technology to best serve all international students, scholars, and their hosting/hiring departments. This includes oversight of the immigration document (I-20 and DS-2019) issuance process for admitted students, and management of the Sunapsis/ISSS Link system, including maintenance and troubleshooting, data management for ISSS. Furthermore, he ensures DHS regulatory compliance and government reporting by managing alert systems in Sunapsis and SEVIS. Charlie also sees international students and scholars during walk-in advising.
Charlie has been an international student himself he completed his undergraduate work at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. He has worked in International Education for over 15 years. Charlie began as an ESL instructor in the Atlanta area before transitioning to the International Student Advisor role. He moved to higher education in 2011 when he became an International Student and Scholar Advisor at Georgia Tech, where he remained until early 2018. Charlie was Chair of the Georgia Association of International Educators in 2013-14 and has been a Trainer in NAFSA’s Trainer Corps since 2014. In 2017, he earned a Master of Science in International Affairs from Georgia Tech.
Charlie was selected for the Fulbright International Educators Award for South Korea for 2023.
When not working, Charlie prefers spending time with his wife and daughters, reading, traveling, and cooking.
