Biography
As an immigration specialist, Amanda supports international students and scholars regarding immigration needs, campus resources, and related matters.
Amanda is a Venezuelan-American, who grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. She recently moved to Georgia and loves exploring her new home by going on hiking trails, trying new restaurants, and seeing a Atlanta United soccer game. At the University of New Orleans, Amanda earned a B.A. in International Studies with a focus in Diplomacy and a Master’s in Public Administration with a focus in Non-Profit Administration and Disaster Management. Her capstone was on the Analysis of the U.S. Refugee Admission Program. She has worked for Catholic Charites of New Orleans as a Refugee Case Manager and Community Engagement Specialist. Her other positions were at the International Rescue Committee of Atlanta as a Staff logistics lead, Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) cohort support, and ESL instructor. She was also employed at the University of New Orleans as a Graduate Assistant for the International Exchange and Study Abroad programs for Japan, Prague, Italy, Costa Rica, and France. She worked a summer abroad with the UNO’s Glories of France program in Montpellier.
Amanda loves to travel and learn about new cultures. She has been to Brazil, China, England, France, Scotland, Spain, and Turkey. She has also lived in a few states including Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas. She is happy to call Georgia her new and final home!
