Biography
Born and raised in Utah, Jason has dedicated his professional life to fostering growth and development in both educational and community settings. For the past eight years, he has served as a Designated School Official (DSO) at the University of Utah, serving its international student population. For seven years, Jason served as an International Applications Evaluator, issuing I-20s for newly admitted students. In 2024, Jason was promoted to lead the I-20 issuance team. In this capacity, he has played a pivotal role in guiding international students through the complex processes of academic enrollment, immigration matters, support needs, and more.
Before transitioning into academia, Jason spent a decade working in in-patient residential treatment for adolescents, where he provided support and guidance to young people facing a variety of mental health challenges. This experience has shaped his compassionate approach to helping others and contributed to his strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
Outside of his professional career, Jason has been deeply involved in volunteer work with several community organizations, including the Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault and The Rape Recovery Center. His dedication to service underscores his commitment to making positive impact in his community.
A lifelong adventurer, Jason grew up hiking and rock climbing, and his love for outdoor activities has stayed with him throughout his life. He was also a national champion ballroom dancer, a passion he pursued throughout his youth. After high school, he further expanded his horizons by volunteering on a humanitarian mission to Russia.
In his free time, Jason enjoys engaging in tabletop role-playing games with friends, cooking new recipes, reading, and watching films, all of which reflect his curiosity, creativity, and desire for connection with others.
