Biography
As ISSS Program Associate, Jason manages the initial I-20 and DS-2019 request processes for incoming students. In this capacity, Jason serves as ISSS’ primary point of contact with campus partners on initial student document matters, ensures an efficient document request process and leads immigration-related outreach efforts to incoming students. Jason also assists with ISSS’ data reporting efforts, as well as advising F-1 and J-1 students as a Designated School Official (DSO).
Born and raised in Utah, Jason has dedicated his professional life to fostering growth and development in both educational and community settings. For the past eight years, he has served international student populations at the University of Utah. Jason began working there as an International Applications Evaluator and later was promoted in 2024 to the title of "I-20 Area Supervisor" for the Office of Admissions. In this position he not only supervised a team of DSO staff but also coordinated collaboration within the component departments of the Office of Admissions; as well as improving communication and revising policies among university partners.
His daily duties were focused not only to issue newly admitted students their I-20s; but he also played a pivotal role in guiding international students through the complex processes of academic enrollment, immigration matters, while supporting their needs. Before transitioning into academia, Jason spent a decade working in in-patient residential treatment for adolescents. This experience has shaped his compassionate approach to helping others and contributed to his strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
