International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is a comprehensive resource for Emory’s diverse international community, as well as its schools and centers. ISSS supports internationalstudents, scholars, and the university with advocacy, programming, support, education, and immigration services. Student flourishing is one of top priorities.
Gifts to the International Student & Scholar Programming fund enable and advance Emory’s efforts to offer much-needed programming and support initiatives for our international community to flourish.
Your gift to the International Student and Scholar Programming Fund supports community-building, student flourishing, programming, and thoughtful support that deepens student and scholar engagement on campus and beyond. Supporting their experiences will increase Emory’s retention and graduation rates, our ability to attract the best and brightest from around the world, student satisfaction, scholarly achievements, and international alumni engagement by building a stronger sense of community and belonging among Emory’s talented international community.
The Black History Month field trip is a great example of how Emory prepares international students and scholars to be competent and well-informed global citizens and leaders. A visit to the King Center and National Center for Civil and Human Rights provided attendees the opportunity to view exhibitions featuring the papers and artifacts of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the history of the Civil Rights movement in the United States, and stories from the struggle for human rights around the world today. Yonah Byarugaba, a Ugandan student in the Master of Science in Business Analytics program, shares that this field trip highlighted “the wide-reaching impact of the Civil Rights movement, beyond just the fight against racial segregation. It showed how the movement touched on various aspects of human rights, emphasizing the interconnectedness of all people’s struggle for dignity and respect.”
Please support Emory’s international community!
