Spring Semester Remote Start
The following messages were sent to international scholars and Atlanta-campus international students on 12/29/2021 regarding Emory's spring 2022 remote start.
New and Continuing F-1 and J-1 Students:
We hope this email finds you well.
We are writing to make sure that you are aware of President Fenves’ announcement about the steps that Emory is taking to keep the campus community safe by changing to a remote start for spring semester. In addition, you should have received or will soon receive an email from your school or academic program about specific plans and deadlines.
We understand that this announcement will affect different members of our community in many different ways based on their unique circumstances. We are here to support you while our campus adjusts to keep everyone safe and as you adjust your plans accordingly.
As an international student, you might be wondering what this change means for your immigration status. Since this is a campus-wide change necessitated by the pandemic, your immigration status will not be negatively impacted as long as (1) you are enrolled full time at Emory for the spring semester, and (2) you plan to resume full-time on campus learning that meets immigration enrollment requirements starting January 31, 2022, assuming health and safety conditions permit.
If you have been assigned campus housing, please note that residence halls will remain open to begin the spring semester. Find more information about this and other important modifications on the Emory Forward website.
We have added a “Spring 2022 Remote Start” section to our COVID-19 FAQ page containing questions that you might have about this change. We recommend that you review this webpage regularly to understand how these changes affect Emory’s international community. We will update it as more information becomes available.
If you have additional questions, please write to us at isss@emory.edu. Between today and January 3, this email account will be checked daily to assist with urgent questions related to the remote start. ISSS will re-open for regular hours on Tuesday, January 4 at 8:30 am.
We wish you a happy and healthy new year!
