DHS rescinds recent F-1 guidance: July 14, 2020

7/14/2020: Versions of the following message were sent to new international students and returning international students as the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) rescinds recent guidance affecting international students for the fall 2020 semester. This is an update to a previous message

Dear international students,

ISSS is pleased to share this welcome news: in today’s court hearing, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agreed to rescind their 7/6/2020 guidance and 7/7/2020 online FAQ, and they will return to the temporary policy guidance which has been in place since mid-March. The guidance allows international students to retain their F-1 status while engaging in online learning due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Emory University along with institutions and organizations across the nation appealed to the US government to rescind their recent guidance which was unfavorable to international students. ISSS remains committed to supporting international students and advocating for favorable immigration policies.

Our team is updating the FAQs on our website to reflect these changes. Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any questions or need our assistance.

Sincerely,

The ISSS Team
