Shannan Palma is a strategic communications and programming professional with over ten years of experience in higher education. Palma has extensive experience with distilling complex ideas into compact, powerful narratives, developing online content strategies, and creating and managing digital content in Cascade and for various social media outlets.
Palma previously served Emory as the senior online producer overseeing http://www.emory.edu and managing special projects in the university’s central Communications and Public Affairs division. Prior to that, she worked in the Office of the Provost as the assistant director of community and diversity and as the program coordinator at the Center for Women at Emory. She has a deep and abiding investment to cultivating diverse and inclusive community at Emory in furtherance of the university's academic mission. In her free time, she volunteers in animal rescue, teaches, and knits.
Palma is a 2000 magna cum laude graduate of Ohio State University where she majored in English. She completed graduate coursework in film production at Florida State before earning her PhD in Women's Gender & Sexuality Studies from Emory University. Her dissertation won the 2012 Kore Award for Best Dissertation in Women and Mythology.
